I Want Six Pack Abs

i-want-six-pack-absIf you’re someone who often finds themselves saying I want six pack abs, chances are you’re curious as to what the best way to build muscle mass in the stomach region is.  Six pack abs are something that almost everyone in the gym is currently working towards and for good reason – they’re hot and show that you know exactly what you’re doing when it comes to fitness and muscle building.

Unfortunately though, getting six pack abs is also one of the hardest goals that you’ll face in your muscle growth mission unless you understand the key things that must be in place in order for you to have success.

Finding out the best way to build muscle mass in the abs does take some time as each person will respond to a program slightly differently but by making sure to follow these general guidelines, you’re going to get results.

Let’s take a quick look at the best way to build muscle mass for your abs so you can finally see the answer to that statement, I want six pack abs.

Utilize Weight

First, since the abs are really no different from any other muscle group, the best way to build muscle mass in this area is going to be to add weight.  Unless you’re adding that overloading stimulus to the muscle tissue, you really cannot expect it to grow sufficiently.

So don’t be afraid to throw a plate onto your chest and perform some decline sit-ups.  This will really get muscle growth happening quickly and allow you to see the results you’re after.

Shorten The Rest Periods

Second, another important thing to know about the best way to build muscle mass in the abs is to keep the rest periods on the shorter side.  Since the abs muscles are relatively fast to recover, if you’re taking too long between sets you’re going to really reduce the intensity of the workout in general.

Since muscle growth highly relies on intensity to occur, you want to keep the rest periods to about 30 seconds or so in length.

Only Work Them A Once Or Twice A Week

One very big mistake many people who are looking for the best way to get closer to abs make is working them almost every single day of the week.  Don’t get misguided on this.  Just like all your other muscles need time to rest and recover, the abs do as well.

There’s no reason to work them more than once or twice a week as long as you’re doing the workouts you do perform with enough intensity.  Intensity with rest is what will get you muscle growth, so it’s what you must focus on.

Keep Rep Ranges Lower

Finally, the last thing to keep in mind with regards to the best way to build muscle mass and get a six pack is to keep the rep range lower.  Don’t go off performing one hundred reps like so many others after flat abs do.

If you’re performing the exercise properly and using enough weight to really challenge you, all you’re going to need is 12-15 reps in order to get results.  If you can do more than this, then you need to add more weight to the movement.

So keep these quick tips in mind.  If you follow them all in your ab workout program you be that much closer to seeing the ab definition you’re looking for.
